I love working with women, teachers, parents, therapists and colleagues in the helping professions.
As an Ontario Certified Teacher and Registered Psychotherapist, my journey has been shaped by the privilege of teaching, travelling, and serving diverse communities.
Throughout my career, I’ve had the opportunity to work with individuals from all walks of life, helping them to find their path and grow.
Our Story….’The Cherry Tree Way’
Years of working on the front lines of politics, education and mental health will reveal what’s working in our systems…and what’s not. There are certain things that once we see, we can’t unsee.
We began to see a glaring gap in the support available for women in Canadian society—especially in women’s health.
Women, mothers, and caregivers are often left without the resources they need during some of their lives' most transformative and challenging times. The absence of tailored mental health care and holistic wellness support for women became the catalyst for founding Cherry Tree Counselling and Psychotherapy Services in 2017.
Our practice was born out of a deep desire to fill that gap, to create a space where women could heal, grow, and be heard—on their own terms. At Cherry Tree, we honour the unique experiences of every woman and offer a safe, non-judgmental space where you can connect, reflect, and receive support. Whether you are navigating anxiety, relationship struggles, motherhood, or reproductive health, we believe every woman deserves to feel powerful, seen, and truly supported.
At Cherry Tree it is our absolute privilege to work with women at every stage of life, from the challenges of early motherhood to the complexities of identity, wellness, and self-discovery. The work we do together is about more than just coping—it's about thriving, finding our voice, and stepping into your strength. We are an inclusive community, working hard to create safer spaces for individuals who have faced adversity, marginalization, oppression and a lack of support. This includes members of the 2SLGBTQ+ and BIPOC community and their families.
Mission Statement
At Cherry Tree Counselling, we are dedicated to empowering women to heal, grow, and live with purpose. We provide a safe, inclusive space where women (and their families) are truly seen, heard, and held. Our goal is to help every woman reclaim her voice, build resilience, and transform life’s challenges into opportunities for meaningful change. We believe that every woman deserves to feel powerful, valued, and supported—no matter what stage of life she is in.
If you are looking for a safer and supportive space where you can be heard, supported and empowered, let’s connect.
While Cree does not hold the capacity to work with new counselling clients, we have a strong team of therapists extensively trained in the ‘Cherry Tree way’ ready to serve you and your specific needs. Reach out to get matched with a therapist or skip that step and book in with your preferred therapist.
PROFESSIONAL BIO
Professional Bio
My career has been shaped by a deep commitment to service, education, and mental health. It began in politics and social justice, where I worked with municipal, provincial, and federal leaders at City Hall, Queen's Park, and Parliament Hill. I then transitioned into teaching after earning my Bachelor of Education and becoming a certified member of the Ontario College of Teachers.
In my teaching career, I worked with diverse communities in Toronto, southern Ontario, and abroad. This experience led me to establish an academic Learning Centre in Dundas, Ontario, where I spent over a decade honing my skills as an assessor, special needs consultant, academic coach, and parenting coach.
Building on my work in educational therapy, I pursued advanced training in psychotherapy, earning a Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology. This training led me to my role as a Mental Health Counsellor with the Hamilton Family Health Team, where I provided individual counselling and co-facilitated groups focused on mindful eating, supporting the mental health needs of patients in a primary care setting.
At McMaster University, I provided counselling services for students and facilitated psycho-therapeutic groups on mindfulness, procrastination, and anxiety. My research and experience at McMaster further deepened my knowledge of eco-therapy and walk-and-talk counselling models.
In addition to my private practice, I serve as an Assistant Clinical Professor (Adjunct) in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioural Neurosciences at McMaster University. This role allows me to continue blending my passion for lifelong learning, teaching, and supporting mental health care.
